This was my mother's recipe. I loved it as a child and I still love it now!

Why I LOVE THIS RECIPE: Easy to make and delicious

Ingredients:
  • 4-5# whole pike-- scaled, gutted and cut into steaks
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 2 cups water
  • heaping cup sugar
  • 1-3/4 cup vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • about 1/3 jar pickling spices

Directions:
  • Slice the 2 onions and cook them covered with the 2 c. water for 15 min.
  • Add remaining 5 ingredients, bring back to boil and gently lay fish in the pan.
  • Cook for 40 minutes
