Since rabbinic times, Rosh Hashanah has been a time of introspection, spiritual self-examination and renewal, and it begins the ten day period of self-examination called the 10 Days of Repentance. Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), culminates this 10-day period and is considered the holiest and most solemn day in the Jewish calendar. It is a day of fasting devoted to prayer and repentance.
There is no better place to observe it than Temple Emanu-El. With Rabbi Batsheva Appel, Cantorial Soloist Marjorie Hochberg, the magnificent High Holy Day Choir directed by Robert Lopez-Hanshaw, the Temple’s High Holy Day services are musical, uplifting, and inspiring.
All are welcome to the Temple’s High Holy Day services, and Our Be Our Guest program invites all who have not previously come to our High Holy Day services to attend for no charge. For security reasons, reservations are required. Call the Temple office at (520) 327-4501 to reserve your admission card and, when coming to services, be prepared for a bag check and to show photo ID.
