Maxwell Greenberg will share a portion of his doctoral research that explores questions of authenticity and identity amongst Jewish communities who settled in the Tijuana-San Diego border region in the 20th century. As the inaugural Scholar-in-Residence at the Jewish History Museum, Greenberg will build on his work from the westernmost edge of the U.S.-Mexico border by conducting local archival research, including a collection of oral histories, to investigate how community members of Southern Arizona conceive of, and express Jewishness and “Latinidad” in the borderlands.Maxwell E.
