"Rootpoet": Poetry and Procedures of Ethical Memory

Three Tucson-based poets will engage with the Holocaust History Center's installation of Miklós Radnóti's "Root," a poem that was recovered from a mass grave on the body of the Jewish Hungarian poet who was executed on a forced march while conscripted to a labor battalion in 1944.

Kimberly Alidio, Matisse Rosen, and Sophia Terazawa will discuss “Root” and ethical memory work relative to their writing practices, which explore queer-dyke politics, somatic Jewish lineages of chronic illness, and Vietnamese diaspora and war trauma.
