Deanna Evenchik

An unforgettable moment in my life was a leadership trip to Tiblisi in the Republic of Georgia, where I delivered food packages on behalf  of the Jewish Federation.  Walking up five flights of dilapidated stairs and meeting with 82 year old Olga, I saw first hand how we save lives (click here to see a short video on our visit to Tibilisi).
This Sunday, hundreds of volunteers will be calling community members to ask them to save lives, too. The Jewish Federation's Super Sunday Phonathon raises vitally needed funds for Jews and non-Jews in need in Tucson, Israel, and around the world. To make your tax-deductible gift now (and avoid a call on Super Sunday), visit www.jewishtucson.org or call (520) 577-9393.
This year, your donation will have double the impact, since an anonymous donor will match gifts dollar-for dollar.
Being chair of Women’s Philanthropy for our Federation has given my life more meaning and I know that supporting our community on Super Sunday will give your life more meaning as well.  I am Deanna Evenchik, and with everyone’s help, I am the Jewish Federation.
ANSWER THE CALL ON SUPER SUNDAY, JANUARY 31!

UJC 2010 Federation Campaign

• The Federation and its local (Handmaker, JCC, JFCS, THA, and U of A Hillel) and overseas (UJC, JAFI, JDC) partners are the primary vehicle for providing services to meet the most pressing needs of our Jewish family.
• In Tucson, the Campaign supports critical social services, education and Jewish culture. Though Jewish Tucson is vibrant and growing, a number of local agencies have recently faced significant business and organizational challenges, making increased Federation support vital.
• Israel’s need for economic support for its most vulnerable citizens--including absorbing the last remaining Ethiopia Jews still living in Africa--continues.
• At the same time, while IEC funds helped ameliorate the most immediate needs arising out of the Lebanon war last summer, continued increased funding is imperative if Israel is to address the longer- lasting effects of the war.
• Our ongoing participation in the TIPS Partnership provides crucial funding for Israelis in need along the Ashkelon Coast.
• Elsewhere overseas, JDC is providing life-saving services to elderly Jews in the FSU, while at the same time funding schools, community centers and Hillels to help rebuild Jewish life there.
• In short, the needs are great, and the ongoing support of our donors remains urgent.
