February Events

Monday, February 4th at  6:30pm     Israel, Past and Present. The Weinbraub Israel Center and Temple Emanu-El are presenting an exciting and informative series of five classes studying different aspects of the land of Israel. This 1st class, Israel’s Cultures, Past and Present, will be taught by Ken Miller, U of A staff archaeologist. There will be a registration fee of $45 for everyone for all five classes. Wednesday, February 6th at 5:00pm  Let’s do Happy Hour/dinner at the Old Pueblo Grille, 60 N Alvernon, just north of Broadway on the east side. RSVP to me by Tuesday, Feb 5th.  Gail  544-3602

Saturday, February 23rd at 8:00am  Join us for our Wandering Jews Shabbat hike and services. We will be hiking Bridal Wreath Falls in Saguaro National Park East. The hike is 5.5 miles round trip, and is moderately difficult. RSVP to Simon by Friday, Feb 22nd at 731-1206
 

Jewish boomer singles groups join forces

Kesher, the Jewish singles group for ages 40-65 under the auspices of the Tucson Jewish Community Center, and Rei’ut, the “boomer” singles group for ages 45-65 under the auspices of Temple Emanu-El, have merged. The new group will be called Rei’ut-Kesher for five months, after which it will be known as Rei’ut.
“We were two groups competing for the same people, so we decided to work together instead,” says Gail Ben-Jamin, chairperson of the new group. “Our group is open to all Jewish singles ages 45-65 whether they belong to Temple Emanu-El or not. We will continue to have a variety of activities with many of them having a Jewish content.” Rei’ut-Kesher will hold a planning meeting Wednesday, March 12 at 6 p.m. at the JCC.
