The Coalition for Jewish Education serves as an educational arm of the Jewish Community, supporting all existing institutions and programs in their educational efforts. The Coalition seeks to coordinate all Jewish educators to ensure Jewish continuity for the future and provide lifelong learning form pre-school to adult years.

Tucson High School for Jewish Studies (Hebrew High)
The Coalition administers a program for teens that includes Jewish studies courses as well as Hebrew language instruction. Hebrew High is coordinated in conjunction with local congregations.

B'nai Tzedek
We can give a little We want to make a difference.  As Jewish teens, we know it is our obligation to work to make the world a better place.  Here’s how we’re doing it—we joined the B’nai Tzedek Tucson teen philanthropy program.  We want you to join us, too.

PJ Library
The PJ Library (PJ for pajamas!) is a unique program that seeks to engage Jewish families with young children in Jewish life.  Enrolled children, ages six months through seven years, receive a monthly mailing of a Jewish children’s book or CD.

Holocaust Education
We are pleased to provide a range of dynamic curricular materials in support of Holocaust Education. These curricular materials include creative and effective lesson plans for students grades 5-12 and a library of reference materials to support teachers in their own lesson designs. Issues of tolerance, understanding, respect, celebration of diversity and courage are inextricably linked to Holocaust Education, and we can provide curricular resources for presenting lessons on these themes.

Israel Experience
The Coalition  encourages all Jewish youth to travel to Israel on a program of their choice and administers grants, which provide scholarships. Look for more information for summer of 2009.  Click here for varioius scholarship opportunities.

Adult Education
The Coalition offers a number of courses to meet specific educational needs. The Florence Melton Adult Mini-school of Tucson offers unique opportunity for adults to study and explore Jewish values, traditions, history and ethics in an informal setting.

Special Needs
The CJE is developing programs for meeting the needs of Jewish children who are learning challenged.

Teacher Training
The Coalition for Jewish Education provides Jewish educators with tools and resources to assist in their teaching.  Housed in the Coalition of Jewish Education, the Resource Center, open weekdays and one Sunday a month, contains video and audio tapes, books, computer software programs, a laminating machine and Hebrew stencil machine.  Some items can be checked out while others can be used in the Center.  Also housed in the Resource Center is a curriculum bank where Judaic Studies teachers can share ideas and lessons for any grade level and subject matter.

A newsletter, "The Source", provides up to date information on new additions to the Resource Center as well as pertinent information for our Tucson Jewish educators.  Through the Council for Jewish Education Directors, two teacher inservice workshops are presented each school year featuring professional Jewish educators from both Tucson and around the nation.  These workshops provide Tucson's Jewish teachers with continuing education and ways to improve upon their teaching skills.

The Coalition for Jewish Education honors our Jewish educators for their commitment to creating positive Jewish identities and ensuring a strong Jewish future!
